On the GTA Forums, Tez2, a reputed Rockstar insider, said that GTA 6 would probably be launched this year with a tentative release date of 2024.
My reports, which go back to June 2021, indicate this is the case. According to my sources, Grand Theft Auto 6 has reportedly been gunning for a 2024 release date for some time. Nevertheless, rumors from historical GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 reveal and release dates suggest that the game won’t be released until 2025.
If I had to hazard a guess, the game would debut during a holiday in 2025 rather than in the spring.
Uncertainty surrounds the announcement’s timing, although Rockstar Games normally makes its major surprises public. To be clear, I don’t anticipate the game to be revealed at E3. Instead, I anticipate several reveal trailers correlating with previous reveals in Q4 2023.
My sources claim that one of the main factors contributing to this protracted “delay” is that GTA 6 will only be available on consoles from the current generation. The release of GTA 6 in 2024 was assured by the projected 2021 release date, which was planned as early as 2021.
Some 70 videos of GTA 6 gameplay surfaced online due to a security breach at Rockstar Software in late 2022. The disclosure was unfortunate. Take-Two Interactive informed investors on its later earnings call. They still maintain that it did not affect development.
Although there is no proof that any tangible assets were taken, which is positive, and the breach won’t impact development or anything, it is frustrating. It makes us more attentive to cybersecurity-related issues.
As for GTA 6, we’ll need to wait and see what is *hopefully* announced soon.
