Washington, May 1 – The New York Post reported, citing law enforcement sources, that a New York police officer died after spending 33 years in a coma.
Troy Patterson was attacked in 1990 by three gunmen who shot him in the head while trying to steal $20.

The hero cop who washed his car in a fire hydrant three blocks from home remained in a vegetative state until his death Saturday night.
At the time of the attack, Patterson was 27 years old, six of whom had served in the police force, and had received seven commendations for his career accomplishments. Already in the hospital he was given the title of detective.
