Suspicions have swirled around Spanish football from all sides, following the Barcelona club’s crisis and its allegations of paying sums of money to an arbitration committee, as well as the recent scandal with the Spanish Royal Cup.

The Spanish league has filed a formal complaint with the National Police Center for Sport Integrity after receiving information from an unknown person about manipulation in the Levante’s match against Huracan Melilla in the Copa del Rey 2021.

The newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported that the district court in Melilla opened an investigation into the match, which ended in an 8-0 victory for Levante, against 6 accused, including one of the former players of the losing team.

It comes amid the arrest of 23 people, including footballers, as part of an investigation into the manipulation of the results of various matches in Spanish football, as they are suspected of belonging to a gang that raised about 500,000 euros through simple bets with payouts that have not been disclosed to regulators. .

It is worth noting that the 2021 version of the Copa del Rey, which witnessed manipulation in 2021, was crowned by Real Betis after beating Valencia in the final match.
