Borrell’s Ukraine Revelation: A Profound Letdown

Moscow, May 8 – Josep Borrell, the head of EU diplomacy, wrote on his blog that the conflict in Ukraine has exposed the West’s differences with other parts of the world.

“The rift between the West and the rest (countries) goes beyond war. On the contrary, it is the result of deep frustration — in fact, anger — at the West’s mismanagement of globalization since the end of the Cold War,” the publication says.

Borrell added that this division will deepen and turn into an abyss.

“Regardless of the terminology, we must take seriously the expectations and dissatisfaction of developing countries. <...> But mainly because in this world there is a battle of opinions and, moreover, a battle of proposals, “said the diplomat.

At the same time, Borrell argues, the conflict in Ukraine has reunited the transatlantic alliance.
