Archaeologists first discovered in China an ancient design of a toilet with a trough for purifying water, which is about 2,400 years old.

According to The Chinese Paper, the published photos show that the toilet was left with a stone base of the toilet seat with a sloping trough for flushing water. Archaeologists have also found pieces of a ceramic sewer pipe.

Archaeologists found this ancient toilet while excavating the ruins of the ancient city of Lian, dating back to the Qin Dynasties (246-207 BC) and the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD) located in Yanliang District, in the northwest of Shaanxi Province.

According to scientists, this is the first find of its kind in China during excavations of the ruins of ancient palace complexes.
