You need to go as far as recent sales figures from Europe if you want evidence that the PlayStation 5 (PS5) has been made easier to purchase recently.
According to the most recent data cited by GI Biz, sales of the PlayStation 5 in Europe are up 369 percent compared to the previous year. The number of PS5s sold in March was five times more than the amount sold in March 2022.
About other game systems during the first quarter, sales of the Nintendo Switch were down 18% year over year, while sales of the Xbox Series X|S were down 10%. Despite this, console sales have climbed by 41% since the first quarter of 2022, reaching 1.5 million units sold, thanks largely to PS5 sales. In only March, there were 570,000 systems sold throughout Europe (not including the UK).
Regarding the peripherals for gaming consoles, 4.7 million units have been distributed across Europe. This is a rise of 5% compared to the same point in the previous year. Increased demand for the PS5 itself was the primary factor behind the success of the PS5 DualSense Controller as the best-selling accessory available at the time.
Sony is poised to have one of its most successful years in a considerable amount of time as a direct result of the continued success of PS5 sales and sales of the PlayStation VR2 headset. Additionally, the business is working on improved iterations of the PlayStation 5 itself and a brand-new handheld companion system.
What are your thoughts on the fact that sales of the PS5 continue to be strong?
