Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappé has said his team is the most visible candidate to reach the Champions League quarter-finals despite losing to Bayern Munich in the first leg.

The Paris Saint-Germain team lost at home to the Bavarian giants with a single goal in the first leg that brought them together last Tuesday evening at the Parc des Princes stadium in the Paris capital.

Mbappe said after the match: “Are you asking who is the candidate for the next match? Paris Saint-Germain as usual.”

The French striker surprised everyone by taking part in the first match against Bayern Munich, recovering ahead of schedule from a muscle injury.

Kylian Mbappe was injured during the match between Paris Saint-Germain and his hosts Montpellier (3:1), on Wednesday evening, February 1, as part of the 21st round of the French League, and was forced to leave the stadium at 21- m. minute of the first half.

And Paris Saint-Germain announced in a statement on their official website on February 2 that medical examinations showed that Mbappé was suffering from a left thigh muscle injury that would put him out of action for a period of 3 weeks.

French team coach Christophe Galtier at the time also confirmed that it was difficult for Mbappe to join Bayern Munich’s Champions League game.

It is noteworthy that Paris Saint-Germain will be the guest of Bayern Munich on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at the Allianz Stadium in Munich, as part of the second leg of the UEFA Champions League, the Champions League.
