Moscow, March 6 – The situation around Artemovsk (Ukrainian name – Bakhmut) caused disagreements between Volodymyr Zelensky and the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian forces, Valery Zaluzhny, who a few weeks ago called for a withdrawal from this city, German newspaper Bild reported, citing sources. .
According to the publication, Zelensky and Zaluzhny have “fundamentally different views” on how to act in the situation with Artemovsk. There were alleged disagreements between the two parties.

The newspaper said, “Bild learned from several sources in the political leadership in Kiev that Zaluzhny recommended a few weeks ago, for tactical reasons, to consider withdrawing from Bakhmut.”

At the same time, an unnamed Ukrainian military analyst, in an interview with the publication, indicated that the Ukrainian military itself may be involved in the Zaluzhny situation.
“The men at Bakhmut ask questions: What is the strategy? Why do we need to dig in when the enemy surrounds us?” – said the tabloid source.
According to the publication, the Ukrainian soldiers believe that the withdrawal should have happened a long time ago. “If we were completely surrounded here, it would be a disaster,” one of the Ukrainian military told the newspaper.
Artyomovsk is located in the Kiev-controlled part of the DRC, north of the large city of Gorlovka, and is an important transport hub for supplying the Ukrainian grouping of forces in the Donbass.
