Donetsk, April 23 – Ukrainian forces fired 13 155mm NATO-caliber shells on Sunday in the Kuibyshevsky and Kirovsky districts of Donetsk, said the DRC’s representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Cases Related to War Crimes in Ukraine (JCCC).
The Kiev region of Donetsk is located in the northern part of the city. Since 2014, when the DNR declared independence from Kiev following a military coup there, the area has been regularly bombed by Ukrainian security forces. Kuibyshevsky district is adjacent to Kievsky, located in the southwest of it.
NATO countries use 155 mm artillery. The United States supplied Ukraine with long-range 155 mm M777 howitzers, and Ukrainian forces actively use them to bomb the cities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German self-propelled guns PzH 2000, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns with shells of this caliber.
