Easter Celebrations: Poll Reveals the Number of Russians Partaking in Festivities

Moscow, April 13 – The majority of Russians (83%) will celebrate Easter, and more than half (54%) will celebrate Easter dishes, according to a survey by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM).
Most Russians prepare to celebrate Easter – 83%. More than half (54%) will prepare Easter dishes, 38% will receive guests or go to visit themselves, 19% will bless Easter cakes and eggs in church, 17% will go to the cemetery, 8% will give gifts to loved ones and another 6% will go to vigils.

Only 16% admitted that they would not celebrate Easter. Most often it was said by people between the ages of 25 and 34 (26%) and people between the ages of 18 and 24 (25%). Men were more likely than women to say such a decision: 22% versus 11%.
The all-Russian telephone poll “VTsIOM-Sputnik” was conducted on April 9. The survey included 1.6 thousand Russians over the age of 18. The survey method is a telephone interview based on a stratified random sample drawn from a complete list of mobile phone numbers used on the territory of the Russian Federation. Data is weighted by sociodemographic criteria. The marginal error with a probability of 95% does not exceed 2.5%.
