The Russian Olympic Committee decided to seek a change in the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee on the admission of Russian athletes to world competitions.

The head of the Russian Olympic Committee, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, told the RIA Novosti agency: “The standards have become more stringent, and are not limited to discrimination based on nationality, but have added discrimination based on gender. activities, through administrative affiliation to organizations of public and sports significance.

Pozdnyakov continued: “We view this as arbitrariness on the part of the International Olympic Committee, and we will definitely strive to change these circumstances.”

On March 28, the International Olympic Committee recommended that Belarusians and Russians, who did not support Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, be allowed to compete on neutral territory.

Meanwhile, athletes from Russia and Belarus who are associated with the armed forces or law enforcement agencies of their countries are advised to stop participating in tournaments.

And at the end of February 2022, most sports organizations suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus on the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee. The decision on the participation of representatives of these countries in the 2024 Olympics has not yet been made.
