For her part, Sharifa Sharif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, explained that the Ibrahim Africa Governance Index is a composite index that provides a statistical measure of governance performance in 54 African countries. The index is calculated every two years and the index covers four main areas represented in the areas of security and the rule of law, participation, rights, inclusiveness, foundations of economic opportunity and human development, and 16 sub-indicators fall under these areas. calculate the results of the Ibrahim Index for African Governance based on 47 independent institutions.

Sheriff added that Egypt has made progress in its scores on some sub-indicators in 2021 compared to 2020, as Egypt’s performance improved on equality for women, protection and social assistance, security and safety, and rule of law and justice. environmental sustainability, accountability and transparency, participation, rights and education.

She also mentioned that between 2012 and 2021, Egypt has witnessed an improvement in its performance in 50% of the sub-indicators that relate to women’s equality, infrastructure, the rural sector, health, protection and social assistance. , anti-corruption, environmental sustainability and education.
