Dr. El-Shafei, director of the Institute of Animal Husbandry, revealed the details of the production of a new Egyptian breed of poultry.
Al-Shafei said in a Masrawi statement today, “We have 14 previous breeds, most notably the Faiyum al-Dandarawi and Gemmayzeh,” adding, “The new breed of poultry is called ‘Tanta 1’ and is produced at the famous Gemmayzeh Station. within a group of strains that were produced earlier and belong to the maternal grandparents (assessment).
He pointed out that old breed birds consume 4 kg of feed for every kilogram of meat. However, the Tanta 1 strain consumes 1.9 kg of feed per kilogram, less than the average, emphasizing that it is a very promising variety and cheaper than foreign, despite the fact that the importer consumes 1.6 kg of feed per kilogram. meat.
This is for two reasons: “Although the foreigner is less in feed intake, the importer needs a very powerful cooling and protection system, which is costly for the breeder; however, the new strain does not need this appointment because it is local. and is familiar with high temperatures, and its evaluation cycle is only 50 days compared to imported. You need a minimum of 65 days, which allows you to increase the number of sessions per year.
He pointed out that the Minister of Agriculture, Al Quseir, indicated the need to distribute this strain to all 13 stations of the republic, and it takes two years to distribute it.
The volume of poultry production in Egypt is 4 million chickens per day, i.e. the average annual production is about one billion four hundred million chickens and about thirteen billion eggs.
According to official figures from the Department of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, investment in the poultry industry amounted to about 90 billion pounds, it employs more than 2.5 million workers.
