The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has imposed heavy sanctions on the Tunisian side Esperance because of the events that took place in their match against the Algerian JS Kabylie in the second leg of the African Champions League quarter-final.

The match, which brought the two teams together last Saturday at the Hammadi Al Akrabi Stadium in Brades, saw riots and clashes between Esperance fans and Tunisian security forces, and tear gas was used, delaying the start of the second half by more than half an hour. .

The CAF penalties for Esperance are as follows:

– Playing without the presence of spectators for the next 4 matches in which Esperance will be the leader; Because of the abuses observed at the meeting that brought him together with the Algerian J. S. Kabili.

– Postponement of the execution of the decision within the limits of only two interviews, provided that within 12 months no disciplinary offense is attributed to Al-Taraji, and in case of any misconduct or violation during this period, he will be automatically excluded from participation in the Champions League competition, and a deferred penalty will be applied.

– Imposition of a fine on Esperance in the amount of 300 thousand US dollars.

Esperance will host Egyptian rival Al Ahly next Friday at the Hamadi Al Akrabi Olympic Stadium in the first leg of the African Champions League semi-finals.
