The Kyzylorda City Court of Kazakhstan found Gulmira Satibaldi, the ex-wife of a relative of former President Nursultan Nazarbayev, guilty of embezzling more than 440 million tenge (about $1 million).
The court sentenced the aforementioned woman to 8 years in prison. When sentencing, the previous sentence passed on her (7 years in prison) was taken into account.
In addition, the court, by its decision, banned Satipaldi from holding managerial positions in commercial structures for a period of 10 years.
It is noteworthy that Gulmira Satibaldi is the ex-wife of Kirat Satibaldi, who is the nephew of the first President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. He was considered one of the most influential businessmen in the country according to Forbes Kazakhstan.
In September 2022, a court in Astana found Karat Satibaldi guilty of embezzlement and sentenced him to six years in prison with confiscation of property and deprivation of the right to work in the public service for 10 years.
