Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani received today, Tuesday, German Foreign Minister Analina Beerbock and the delegation accompanying her.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and partnerships in various fields for the benefit of the Iraqi and German peoples.
During the meeting, Mohammed Shaya Al-Sudani emphasized the importance of continuing bilateral communication and cooperation, as well as the exchange of information on security issues.
He expressed Iraq’s readiness for all forms of partnership and investment opportunities, and welcomed the contribution of German companies to building infrastructure in Iraq.
For her part, the German minister conveyed to Al-Sudani the greetings of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, expressing the desire of the German government to once again resume the work of the joint Iraqi-German commission.
He also reaffirmed Germany’s support for the efforts of the Iraqi government in its quest for administrative and economic reforms and good governance.
At the end of the meeting, the signing ceremony with the German energy company Siemens of the first group of project contracts included in the memorandum of cooperation took place, including rehabilitation and integrated maintenance work for (Kirkuk, Al Rashid and Al Sadr gas stations) for the production of electricity.
These contracts cover the maintenance of the stations for five years with a production capacity of “1400 MW”, which helps to keep them running and stabilize power generation and distribution. For the first time, the German government will work on the follow-up. on the work of Siemens in Iraq, to ensure that the company fully complies with the contracts concluded and adheres to it.
The signing of the three contracts is a confirmation of the obligations of the Ministry of Energy under the memorandum of understanding signed with the German company Siemens in Berlin under the auspices of the Prime Minister last January. Thanks to these three contracts, the Iraqi government was able to receive a financial discount of up to 30%.
