Algerian JS Kabylie has decided to file a formal complaint with the Confederation of African Football against Esperance de Tunis after the riots that took place during the confrontation between the two teams at the latter’s stadium in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The match, which brought together the two teams the day before yesterday, on Saturday, at the Hammadi Al-Akrabi stadium in Brades, witnessed riots and clashes between Esperance fans and Tunisian security forces, tear gas was used, delaying the start of the second half for more than half an hour.

In a statement released on Monday, JS Kabylie confirmed that she was subjected to all acts of violence, intimidation and hostility from the public during the match against Esperance, burning the stands and using tear gas, which made the atmosphere unbreathable and far from sporting values. .

The Algerian club indicated that it had asked to stop the match due to concerns for the safety of fans and the team delegation, explaining that since yesterday morning, Sunday, work was underway to prepare a complaint file filed with the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Notably, Esperance qualified for the semi-finals of the African Champions League despite a 1-1 draw against JS Kabylie in the second leg of the tournament’s quarter-finals.

Esperance took advantage of last week’s 1-0 away win in Algiers to set up a meeting with Al-Ahli of Egypt in the semi-finals.
