Today, Saturday, the Greek football club Olympiacos officially announced the termination of the contract with the Brazilian veteran defender Marcelo by mutual agreement of the parties.

Marcelo, 34, joined Olympiacos at the start of the current season on a free transfer after finishing his run at Real Madrid.

The Olympiacos club said in an official statement via their Twitter account: “The entire Olympiacos family would like to thank Marcelo for his cooperation and presence in the team.”

The statement added: “The time he stayed with us was short but long enough to establish strong ties. He will always have friends in Greece.”

According to Spanish network Relevo, Marcelo will leave Olympiacos after receiving an offer from a foreign team.

The network indicated that Olympiacos and Marcelo club officials are pleased with the decision to cancel, especially since the offer the player received is of an economic level.

And the Relevo network reported that Marcelo was previously associated with joining the ranks of the Saudi Victory in order to be associated with the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.
