Argentine footballer Lionel Messi has been suspended for two weeks for traveling to Saudi Arabia without the club’s permission.
And British network BBC Sport said Messi would not train or play for the club during the suspension period.
And the BBC stressed that the 35-year-old Messi applied for permission to travel on business, but his request was denied.
Messi traveled to Saudi Arabia on Monday, the day after Saint Germain’s surprise 1-3 defeat at home against Lorient in the French league tournament.
Because of this punishment, Messi will miss Saint-Germain’s matches against Troyes and Ajaccio in the next two rounds of the French league.
Messi’s contract with the Parisian club ends at the end of the current season in June 2023, and it is said that he has refused to renew his contract with the French team and is going to return to the ranks of his former team Barcelona.
Of note, Saudi Arabia appointed Messi as its tourism ambassador last year and he visited Jeddah in May 2022 before returning to play a friendly match between his team Paris Saint-Germain and Al -Nasr” and “Al-Nasr”.
