Monaco have lost any remaining chance of finishing in the top three after losing 3-1 to Lyon in the 36th stage of the French Football League on Friday.

Lyon’s goals were scored by Alexandre Lacazette in the 38th minute, Maxence Kaquere (57) and Ryan Chergui (78), while Monaco opened the scoring thanks to Wissam Ben Yedder in the second minute from a penalty.

With his defeat, Monaco IV officially lost the chance of reaching third place, which gives the right to participate in the Champions League qualifiers, as they are eight points behind Marseille, two rounds before the end of the league.

On the other hand, Lyon strengthened their position in seventh place with 59 points and kept their hopes of reaching one of the European competitions (European League or European Conference).
