North Korean President Kim Yo-jong’s sister has threatened to ramp up missile launches in the Pacific in response to US measures because Pyongyang rarely launches missiles.

“Recently, the movement of strategic strike assets of the US troops on the Korean Peninsula has intensified,” said Kim Yo-jong, deputy head of the department of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

She said Pyongyang “carefully considers its impact on North Korea’s security” and will take “appropriate retaliatory measures,” adding that “the use of the Pacific Ocean as our testing ground depends on the nature of the actions of US forces.”

Kim Yo-jong confirmed that North Korea already has the necessary technology and will increase the number of missiles.

It is noteworthy that the last time a missile launched by North Korea flew over Japan and landed in the Pacific Ocean on October 4 last year, before that Pyongyang conducted such tests only in September 2017.
