Dr. Elena Solomatina, a Russian nutritionist, advises against eating white bread before bed, as this can lead to weight gain.

And the expert also points out that it is better not to eat bread in the evening and at night, because it contains carbohydrates, that is, energy that needs to be spent.

She says: “At night the body is inactive because it sleeps. Therefore, if the energy received is not spent, it will turn into fat, which will accumulate in the body.

According to her, even whole-grain bread should be avoided in the evening, since the dietary fiber contained in it gives the body energy in a dosed manner, but it turns into fat, which accumulates in the body.

She adds that it is better to eat bread in the morning or during lunch, in which case the body will have enough time to spend the energy received. And she recommends eating whole grain bread because it doesn’t cause blood sugar spikes.

Solomatina previously stated that white bread contains white flour, water and yeast, which means it is, in fact, “sugar”. Eating white bread can lead to type 2 diabetes, significant weight gain, and insulin resistance, she said. Therefore, whole grain bread and rye bread are healthier.
