Brussels, May 23 – Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak told reporters in Brussels after the meeting of the heads of defense ministries of NATO countries that Poland wants Germany to extend the presence of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems on the territory of the republic. .
Earlier in the publications of the Funke editorial group, it was reported that Germany will redeploy Patriot air defense systems from the eastern borders of Slovakia and Poland as early as 2023.
According to the Polish minister, he discussed this issue with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
“We also talked about extending the presence of German patriots on Polish soil. I am optimistic here, and I believe that Minister Pistorius will visit Poland soon and we will have the opportunity to talk specifically about this,” said Blaszczak.
Germany handed over its Patriot system to Poland, along with its crews, in January after a Ukrainian S-300 air defense missile hit the republic’s territory, killing two people.
