Senegal won the Africa Under-17 Championship after beating Morocco 2-1 on Friday in the final match hosted at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers.

The Moroccan national team ended the first half of the match with an unanswered goal, signed by Abdel Hamid Boudlal.

The Moroccan national team maintained the lead until the last ten minutes of the match, when the Senegalese managed to score two goals through Vala Diouf from a free kick in the 80th minute and Sani with a header (84).

By winning the 14th U17 Africa Cup of Nations, Senegal became the tournament’s ninth champion in its history.

Cameroon, Nigeria, Mali, Gambia and Ghana lead the African nations for juniors, having each crowned with two titles in previous editions compared to one title for Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Burkina Faso and finally Senegal.
