Sweden Angry over Azerbaijan in Euro 2024 Qualifiers

The Swedish national team inflicted a crushing defeat on their Azerbaijani guest (5:0) in a meeting that brought them together on Monday evening, in the second round of the 2024 European Nations Cup qualifying tournament.

Swedish midfielder Emil Forsberg put his country ahead with a goal 38 minutes into the first half.

While the second goal came on “friendly fire” scored by Azerbaijani defender Bahloul Mustafa Zadi in the 65th minute with an error in his own net, and then the home team added three more goals through each of the players, Victor Gjockers, Jasper Carlson and Anthony Elanga in minutes (79, 88, 89) respectively.

The Swedish national team resigned themselves to this victory, its fans after the defeat at home from the Belgian guest (3:0) last Friday in the first round of the Group 6 (F) qualifying tournament.

At the same time, the Azerbaijani national team suffered a second defeat in a row, after the first defeat from the Austrian hosts (1-4) last Friday.

Below is the Group F (F) standings after the second round of the Euro 2024 qualification in Germany:

1- Austria – 6 points

2- Belgium – 3 points (1 match)

3- Sweden – 3 points

4- Estonia – 0 points (1 match)

5- Azerbaijan – no points.
