Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023) Cast and Characters
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023) is going to bring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back to the big screen, so get ready to brush the dust off of your ninja masks and turtle shells because the Turtles are about to make their triumphant return. The legendary crustacean heroes have been featured in animated television shows for a very long time, but the Ninja Turtles also have a rich history in the world of film.
The original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action trilogy, which consists of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III (1993), is where the Turtles made their first appearance in a live-action movie on the big screen. In TMNT (2007), an animated relaunch of the team that took them in a little more dramatic direction, the Turtles would receive a second chance at big-screen stardom, which was more than a decade after their first attempt.
The most recent time we saw the well-known heroes in a movie theater environment was in Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and its sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016). Both of these films attempted to bring the characters to life in live-action. Although we did get a shockingly amazing crossover with the straight-to-video Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2019) and the Netflix-exclusive spin-off film Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie (2022), the franchise’s film footprint has been rather quiet during the past several years.
That is about to change thanks to “permanent teenager” Seth Rogen and his next film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which gives a new perspective on the “Turtles in a Half Shell” franchise with some snappy animation in the style of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018). This may be the first adaption of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in which the Turtles speak like typical adolescents. During Nickelodeon’s broadcast of the 2023 Kid’s Choice Awards, Seth Rogen made the revelation. He then proceeded to disclose the film’s full cast, which is chock-full of well-known actors and series regulars who are popular with fans. Read on for an in-depth introduction to the cast and characters of the next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, Mutant Mayhem. Here, you’ll learn who you may anticipate seeing in the film.
Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo
Nicolas Cantu, who has provided his voice for Gumball Watterson on The Amazing World of Gumball (2011-2019), has been cast as Leonardo, the leader of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Ooze is a mystery substance responsible for creating many of the mutants seen throughout the film. Leo and his three siblings were once normal turtles but became humanoid after exposure to Ooze. The character of Leo is frequently shown as the level-headed leader of the group, who is constantly obligated to point his brothers in the right direction and keep them out of trouble. Having said that, Leo is still just a teenager, and he often finds himself engaging in defiant fun with his brothers and coping with challenges that any other young adult would confront.
Brady Noon as Raphael
Brady Noon (The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers), the group’s resident easy-going hothead, will play Raphael, frequently believed to be the polar opposite of Leonardo. Raph is the one that consistently gets the siblings into trouble, in contrast to Leo, who makes an effort to be as cautious and responsible as possible. His approach of “fight first, ask questions later” frequently leads the four of them into problems, but his street smarts help them get out of several sticky situations. In combat, he frequently resorts to using physical force, and his primary role within the team is that of the tank; he is always the one to charge headfirst into potential peril.
Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo
Next is Michelangelo, the machine that provides comic relief, portrayed by Shamon Brown Jr. (The Chi). Even if Michelangelo is not the most intelligent, strongest, or most skilled fighter in the group, he must be an extremely valuable part of the team. He always makes everyone laugh and is consistently the crew member with the greatest compassion; he never misses an opportunity to eat pizza and constantly makes jokes. Mikey is not particularly intelligent, but he makes up for it with his love for his family. He is equipped with nunchucks and a can-do mentality.
Micah Abbey as Donatello
Micah Abbey, who portrayed the youthful genius Donatello in “Cousins for Life,” is the final member of the Ninja Turtles, although he is by no means the least important. It is not an exaggeration to say that Donnie is the most intelligent member of the group. Donnie is equally skilled in battle as his contemporaries, but he prefers to deal with problems through a computer or a mobile device. He is constantly thinking of new gizmos and gadgets that the Turtles can use to assist them in their struggle against crime in the modern world. Donnie has a more logical demeanor and, at times, can have a pessimistic outlook; nonetheless, he will always fight alongside his brothers when necessary.
Jackie Chan as Master Splinter
Jackie Chan is an action movie icon who does not need an introduction, and he is no stranger to animated films about martial arts, having played Monkey in the Kung Fu Panda flicks. Jackie Chan is well-known for his work in action movies. Now, he will play a different mammal master Master Splinter, the rodent figure who acts as the father figure to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Before the Ooze changed him, Splinter was just a typical rat as his adopted children were when they were younger. In the several Ninja Turtles movies and television programs, there are many different interpretations of how Master Splinter attained his level of expertise in the arts of Ninjutsu; however, he consistently taught his kids the art. Splinter is more than just a trainer to the Turtles; they consider him a close friend. They look up to Master Splinter as if he were their biological father. Splinter imparted to them the knowledge necessary to become crime-fighting heroes and the skills necessary to become better people.
Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil
After giving an outstanding performance in The Bear (2022), Ayo Edebiri was catapulted to the entertainment industry’s forefront. Now she will be playing a completely reimagined version of a beloved Ninja Turtles character. April O’Neil is a human reporter who has been a long-time ally of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Whenever she has the opportunity, she assists the Turtles in navigating the world above the New York City sewers. She is well-recognized for donning her iconic yellow jumpsuit in the first episode but considers a yellow jumpsuit to be a touch old. Mutant Mayhem offers April a more current and updated style (while maintaining the character’s fondness for yellow). She is also noted for her penchant for the color yellow. April can hold her own against criminal thugs and nasty mutants, even though she does not have the same ninja training as her pals, turtles.
Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman
It makes perfect sense that Giancarlo Esposito will play the role of Dr. Baxter Stockman, who may very well be the primary antagonist of the movie, given that he is so well renowned for playing evil characters, such as Gustavo Fring from Breaking Bad (2008-2013) and Moff Gideon from The Mandalorian (2019-), amongst others. Baxter Stockman is the very definition of a crazy scientist. He is responsible for creating a wide variety of foes for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, from stupid robots to lethal mutants, with the latter being the most likely scenario for the movie Mutant Mayhem. On rare occasions, Baxter will mutate into a horrifying human-fly hybrid that appears to have been lifted right out of a movie starring Jeff Goldblum. Stockman may be a malicious individual, but he frequently works for an even more evil power, such as a certain alien with brain-like structures or a clawed samurai with a certain reputation.
Seth Rogen and John Cena as Bebop and Rocksteady
In Mutant Mayhem, the Turtles will face off against many mutants. Still, the first two characters are a dynamic duo that any fan will be able to identify immediately. Comedian and Mutant…
