Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan: Conflict in Ukraine to Continue Long-term
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his belief that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine will persist for a significant period and will not be resolved in the near future. In an interview with American television channel PBS, Erdogan stated, “To be honest and clear, it is evident that this war will continue for a long time and will not conclude soon.”
Erdogan also mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin is advocating for a swift resolution to the conflict and desires its prompt conclusion. Erdogan remarked, “That’s what he told me, and I believe him.”
It is worth noting that President Putin has consistently stressed Moscow’s preparedness for negotiations in pursuit of a political solution to bring an end to the Ukrainian conflict.
Despite pressure from Western nations, Kyiv has refused to engage in negotiations and has passed legislation prohibiting President Vladimir Zelensky from participating in such talks.
Moscow has consistently denounced the provision of various weapons to Kyiv by Western countries, cautioning that this approach will not lead to negotiations and will further harm Ukraine.
