Simferopol, March 18 – Acting Governor of Zaporizhia Region Yevgeny Paletsky said on his Telegram channel that the reunification of Crimea with Russia was the first event in restoring the unity of the Russian world, and he expressed confidence that this process would continue.
On Saturday, the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol celebrate the ninth anniversary of its accession to Russia following the referendum held on March 16, 2014.

Aksionov spoke about the importance of the reunification of Crimea with Russia

“The Crimeans made their choice – a choice that future generations will be proud of. Crimea became the first sign of the restoration of the unity of the Russian world and historical justice. Today, the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson republics have returned to their native port. I am sure that this process will continue ” Paletsky wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to him, the Crimean spring was not only a historical event for the population of the peninsula and Russia as a whole, but also a starting point for many changes on the political map of the world. Paletsky stressed that today the Republic of Crimea and the hero city Sevastopol provide invaluable assistance to the Zaporozhye region. “Thanks to their support, the most important issues of forming the national economy of the region are being resolved,” the acting governor emphasized.
Crimea became a Russian region in March 2014 after the referendum that followed the coup in Ukraine. In the 2014 referendum, 96.77% of voters in Crimea and 95.6% in Sevastopol were in favor of joining Russia. Ukraine still considers Crimea to be its temporarily occupied territory, and many Western countries support Kiev on this issue. For its part, the Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the people of Crimea voted for democratic reunification with Russia, in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Crimea issue has been “permanently closed.”
