Hogwarts Legacy has been available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 for a month. Since then, it has dominated the charts, sold millions of copies, and shattered numerous records. According to Warner Bros, a regrettable Hogwarts Legacy delay will now be necessary for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game.
Hogwarts Legacy will now be released on May 5 for “old-gen” platforms, with the Nintendo Switch version following on July 25. Warner Bros. explained this decision on Twitter, emphasizing that the company wants to “provide the best possible experience on all devices.”
Hogwarts Legacy has shown to be an exceptional game in a relatively short time. It demolished Twitch charts within days of its release, soaring high and reaching a peak concurrent viewership of more than 1.3 million users. It has mostly stayed the same since then, and both Wizarding World veterans and novices continue to find it to be a very popular game.
The game’s PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will sadly have to wait a bit longer, but there is a solid reason for this.
We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for the response to Hogwarts Legacy from fans around the globe. The team is working hard to deliver the best possible experience on all platforms and we need more time to do this. The teams working on the “old-gen” version need this regrettable Hogwarts Legacy delay so they may refine their work. Players will have to wait an additional month. Still, any game lover will tell them it’s worth the inconvenience, no matter how annoying it may be.
Nevertheless, no plans are currently to release any additional Hogwarts Legacy content. Although the game’s setting is well suited for supporting a dozen DLCs, the developer has announced no expansion plans.
As gamers on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will learn in a few months, Hogwarts Legacy has more than enough content to keep players busy until rumors of expansions start circulating.
