The Japanese expert said that the war in Iraq was the beginning of a gradual weakening of the United States of America.

On the 20th anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq, expert Seit Sakanashi, deputy director of the Center for Middle East Studies at the Energy and Economic Research Institute, added: “Looking at that war today, we can say that it was the reason that the (arm) of the United States turned out to be very large, and because of this, His gradual weakening began.

The Japanese expert believes that the initial goals and final results of this war were different, since “the goals of the war in Iraq were the so-called (war on terror) or the war for (democratization of Iraq), i.e. that later it turned out that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction, and it also became clear that the overthrow of the dictatorship by force of arms leads not so much to the achievement of democracy as to instability and chaos.

The expert added that the war in Iraq “has called into question the legitimacy of what the US did, and also showed that not all political goals can be achieved by armed means, and through the war in Iraq, ordinary people began to wonder if the US was exaggerating in its forces. when the war began, and that, as it turned out, the United States does not always make the right decisions, and the range of problems that can be solved with the use of force is, in fact, limited.

Sakanashi pointed out that one of the factors in how the war in Iraq affects the world and the region is the understanding that the effectiveness of the use of force is limited, stressing that the war in Iraq “showed the world that there is a limit to the use of force, and that there are goals, which cannot be achieved even with the largest military force.”

The joint military operation of the United States and the anti-Iraqi coalition called “Shock and Awe”, then renamed “Iraqi Freedom”, began on March 20, 2003. The official reason for the invasion was the association of Saddam Hussein’s regime with international terrorism, as well as the CIA’s information about the presence in Iraq of a stockpile of weapons of mass destruction, which was subsequently not confirmed. This military operation was carried out without UN approval.

The campaign ended on December 18, 2011, when the last column of American troops left Iraq, while there are no accurate data on civilian casualties for the entire period of the presence of American troops and their allies in Iraq, and the data indicate that they are hundreds of thousands of people.
