French media reported that anti-pension reform protesters set fire to the door of a police station in Rennes, northwest France.

Media reports also indicate that protesters set fire to dumpsters in front of a police station in St. Anne’s Square in the city.

The media indicated that the police were able to quickly put out the fire using water hoses. No one was hurt as no one was in the building at the time of the accident.

It is noteworthy that the French Constitutional Council approved on Friday the main provisions of a bill to reform the pension system, which provides for an increase in the retirement age from 62 to 64 years by 2030.

After the Council’s decision was announced, thousands of protesters took to the streets of several French cities.

French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to sign the controversial law in the coming days.
