Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned Americans demanding to stop sending aid to Kyiv of the consequences of doing so, saying Washington would lose its leading role in the world if it did so.
Zelensky said: “The percentage of Americans (calling to stop helping Ukraine), which, as you said, is increasing. I can only say one thing. If they don’t change their mind, if they don’t understand us, if they don’t support Ukraine, they will lose NATO.” They will lose the influence of the United States of America. They will lose their leadership positions in the world. They will lose a country that has 40 million people and millions of children.”
He noted that he is glad that Ukraine has the bipartisan support of the Americans. However, he acknowledged that Kyiv hears some of the calls, which he called dangerous.
He stated that if Ukraine could not “hold on”, Russia would “come into NATO”.
He added: “Then the United States of America will send their sons and daughters, as we send our sons today. And they will fight.”
