The Iraq national team suffered a heavy defeat at the start of their campaign at the FIFA Youth (U-20) World Cup in Argentina against their Uruguayan counterpart (0-4) on Monday night.

Uruguay took the lead with a first-half goal scored by Matias Abaldo in the 38th minute, while teammate Andrés Ferrari doubled the lead just three minutes into the second half, with the Iraqi goalkeeper scoring the third goal on friendly fire Hussein Hassan in the 62nd minute, an own mistake.

And then ended the Uruguayan quartet Alan Maturo “La Celeste – La Celeste”, when the meeting was on its last legs at the stadium “Diego Armando Maradona” in the capital Buenos Aires.

Uruguay topped Group E with three points, ahead of their English counterpart, who in turn beat Tunisia by one goal on goal difference.
