Egyptian media reported that Zamalek Football Club officials canceled their team’s hotel reservation in the Emirates before meeting Al Ahly at the Egyptian Super at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.

The Zamalek administration informed the hotel of the cancellation of the team’s mission booking, which was due to arrive in the Emirates on Monday, and then the trip was delayed until tomorrow, before the hotel was informed of the cancellation, in a move that paves the way for an apology for not participating in the Egyptian Super Cup.

Next Friday, Zamalek will take on traditional rivals Al Ahli in the Super Bowl at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in the Emirates.

Zamalek withdraws from the Supermatch in accordance with the decision of the Board of Directors, except in the case of a complaint related to a fine for disqualification of Al Ahly star Mahmoud Abdel Moneim Kahrab.

The Egyptian Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee punished Kahraba with a 12-match ban and a fine of £1 million to be paid within a month.

The imposition of this punishment on Kahraba comes amid a complaint from the Zamalek club against him for insulting his fans after El Clasico at the fourteenth stage of the Egyptian League in January last year.
