A statement from the Japanese Foreign Ministry today, Saturday, says that Volodymyr Zelensky will personally take part in a working meeting on Ukraine as part of the G7 summit in Hiroshima.
The ministry said that Zelensky will take part in an expanded meeting of the leaders of the G-7 and leaders of other countries on issues of peace and stability as a guest.
In a statement, the ministry noted that during the Japanese Prime Minister’s visit to Kiev in March this year, the parties agreed that Zelensky would participate in some of the activities of the Hiroshima summit via the Internet.
“After that, President Zelensky expressed his firm desire to personally attend the summit, and after a comprehensive assessment of the general agenda of the summit, it was decided to hold a meeting on Ukraine on the last day of the summit on May 21 with the personal presence of President Zelensky,” the message says.
According to the Japanese Foreign Ministry, “a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Kishida and President Zelensky is also scheduled.”
