Kazakh President Offers Partnership in Natural Resources to Germany and Europe
Introduction
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has expressed his country’s readiness to be a “reliable partner” for Germany and other European countries in the field of natural resources and raw material supplies.
Promising Areas of Cooperation
Following a meeting with representatives of the Kazakh and German business communities, the press service of the President of Kazakhstan issued a statement highlighting the identification of several promising areas of joint cooperation.
Kazakhstan’s Readiness
President Tokayev stated that Kazakhstan is prepared to be a reliable partner primarily in supplying natural resources and vital raw materials required by the industry in Germany and Europe.
Increasing Demand for Raw Materials
It was emphasized that the demand for vital raw materials and rare metals is projected to quadruple by 2040. The World Bank estimates that Kazakhstan possesses more than 5,000 untapped reservoirs valued at over $46 trillion.
Proposal for a Consortium
President Tokayev proposed the creation of a consortium, in collaboration with Chancellor Olaf Schultz, to implement joint projects in the raw materials sector. This proposal aims to elevate the cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany to a new level.
Meeting with German Chancellor
President Tokayev held talks with German Chancellor Olaf Schulz in Berlin, during which Chancellor Schulz expressed interest in increasing oil supplies from Kazakhstan, diversifying supply chains, and implementing infrastructure projects.
