Saudi Aramco Acquires ESMAX Distribution Company in South America
Introduction
Saudi Aramco has recently made a significant acquisition by fully acquiring ESMAX Distribution Company (SBE) from Southern Cross Group. This marks Saudi Aramco’s first investment in a retail and marketing business in South America, a region known for its promising and attractive markets.
Strengthening Value Chain Strategy
The transaction not only strengthens Saudi Aramco’s value chain strategy in the refining, chemicals, and marketing sectors but also opens up new distribution opportunities for Valvoline lubricants. This follows Saudi Aramco’s previous acquisition of Valvoline International Products, a subsidiary of the American company Valvoline, in February 2023.
Expanding Global Presence
This agreement is an important step for Saudi Aramco in its strategy to strengthen its global presence in oil refining, chemicals, and marketing sectors. It also allows the company to expand its business into the retail, lubricants, and trade sectors. Saudi Aramco President of Refining, Chemicals, and Marketing, Muhammad bin Yahya Al-Qahtani, highlights the desire to leverage the opportunities offered by this acquisition to strengthen cooperation with Saudi Aramco’s commercial and production system. This acquisition also serves as a platform to launch the Saudi Aramco brand in Chile and potentially expand it across South America, tapping into new markets for the company’s products.
Welcoming ESMAX to the Saudi Aramco Family
The addition of the exceptional ESMAX team to the Saudi Aramco family is welcomed as the company continues to execute its strategy in the refining, chemicals, and marketing sectors.
