The acquisition of Primephonic by Apple in 2021 in preparation for the launch of an app specializing in classical music in 2022 resulted in the creation of Apple Music Classical. Apple Music Classical promises to handle the complicated metadata frequently associated with classical recordings more effectively. People will be able to become more familiar with the subgenre with the assistance of the app’s curated playlists and biographies of its composers.

Apple claims that the app’s catalog contains more than 5 million tracks and that you can listen to music at a high resolution of up to 192 kHz and 24 bits. The app does come with a few important disclaimers, though. Apple Music Voice Plan subscribers are unable to access the Classical service. In addition, there won’t be a native version for the iPad at launch, and you won’t be able to download music to listen to when you’re not connected to the internet.

Even though I’m dissatisfied that the app does not support offline downloads, I look forward to delving deeper into it. Apple Music Classical could be a good way to learn more about a genre I should be more versed in, even though I need to be online to use it. However, if I’m being honest, the first thing I will do when I use it is look up different versions of “Boléro,” composed by Maurice Ravel.
