The “Stand One” MagSafe Charger has Been Released by Nomad

Must read

Today, Nomad, a maker of Apple accessories, announced the release of the Stand One. This brand-new charger is intended for iPhones with MagSafe technology. The charger contains a Designed iPhone MagSafe charging puck that can provide up to 15W of power to a MagSafe-compatible device.

Nomad sent me a Stand One to look at before the launch so that I can share a more extensive analysis with MacRumors readers. The Stand One is a more expensive charger that emphasizes build quality, design, and aesthetics over pricing, as most of Nomad’s products do.

It is constructed of silver or carbide CNC-machined metal, with glass covering the front for a glossy, shiny appearance. The Stand One’s design makes it appear fantastic on a desk. One of the more expensive charging choices I’ve tried is thin, doesn’t take up much space, and charges devices quickly. It looks and feels similar to a Base One from Nomad for those who have used one.

This charging stand’s glass faceplate makes it possible for fingerprints to accumulate. But, since it is a workplace accessory, most people won’t miss touching it frequently. It is substantial and stable due to its near-pound weight, and the silicone material at the bottom helps keep it in place.

Although Nomad claims that the weight keeps it fastened to the table, you may need to pick up your phone correctly and take the charger. With any MagSafe charger, you still need to use the small twisting and pulling motion to remove your iPhone from the charger. Although it seems more expensive, and the weight is fine, I’m still determining what functionality it adds.

The Stand uses an approved MagSafe charging puck. As a result, it charges at the same rate as Apple’s own MagSafe charger, and during my testing, I noticed no speed difference between the two. The white charging puck has a similar supple touch to Apple’s MagSafe charger. The Stand’s angle is fixed at 21 degrees and cannot be changed, which is perfect for my needs.

When I needed to check my iPhone for incoming notifications, I used it set up next to my PC. Moreover, it provides a good viewing angle for videos. Depending on your taste, it can be used in either portrait or landscape positions. A braided USB-C cable that is integrated has been designed for durability. While it’s acceptable, I always like a cable that can be disassembled in case I need to switch to a shorter cable.

The connection is two meters long, longer than I like when utilizing a hub or a setup with a power adapter on the desk. Nevertheless, because it is incorporated, I am unable to replace it. One continuous issue with Nomad products is that the Stand One requires a 20W power adaptor, yet it does not come with one. I like the beautiful, portable 20W charger Nomad sells, but it costs an extra $19.

Although primarily intended for the iPhone, it can also recharge the AirPods Pro 2 with MagSafe. The upright form necessitates a magnetic connection, preventing normal AirPods or non-MagSafe phones from charging. You can only charge one item at a time because this charger is only for one device.

Nomad might have included an AirPod charger to Stand One’s underused space at the back to increase its functionality and lower the price.

Apart from the price, I am fine with this Stand. It costs $109.95, which is a lot for a charger for only one smartphone. You get a better build quality and a premium design for that price. Let’s say you want a better charger than another bulky plastic item. In that situation, Stand One is recommended for viewing. Starting today, you may purchase it through Nomad’s website.
