UAE and Italy Strengthen Ties to Strategic Partnership

Today, Saturday, the UAE and Italy announced that they will upgrade their relationship to the level of a strategic partnership.

UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and Italian Prime Minister George Meloni met at the Beach Palace, after which they released a “draft declaration of intent” to strengthen cooperation under the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change “COP 28” and measures to combat with climate change.

A memorandum of understanding was also signed for cooperation on energy sector transition projects and sustainability initiatives between ADNOC and the Italian energy group Eni, Improving energy security and accelerating low-carbon economic and industrial growth.

Areas of cooperation include reducing carbon emissions with a focus on carbon capture, use and storage technologies, energy efficiency improvements, joint investments in clean hydrogen, and renewable and clean energy.
