Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his Justice and Development Party will work to boost Turkey’s foreign trade to $1 trillion and attract 90 million tourists.
This is stated in a speech delivered on Tuesday in the capital Ankara during an introductory meeting of the pre-election statement and candidates for deputies from the Justice and Development Party.
Erdogan added: “We will increase investment in tourism to reach the goal of 90 million tourists and $100 billion in revenue per year (in the same sector).”
He stressed that his government’s goal is to bring the volume of foreign trade to one trillion dollars, focusing on production, investment and exports.
He continued: “With an annual growth of 5.5 percent, we will increase our national income in the coming period to $1.5 trillion and then to $2 trillion, which is our main goal.”
The Turkish President said that thanks to the growth rate, the government will create 6 million new jobs in 5 years, and reduce the unemployment rate to 7 percent.
And he added: “We will raise the share of national income per capita in the coming period to $16,000 a year, and then to higher levels.” And he added: “We will rid our country of the problem of inflation, again reducing it to single digits.”
He stressed that his government will ensure Turkey’s continued stability and survival as an island of peace and security at a time when the world and the region are facing growing challenges.
He added: “We will create a Family and Youth Bank with the proceeds from the extraction of natural gas and oil in our country.”
He also pointed to the Turkish government’s intention to establish a high-speed rail line between the capital Ankara and Istanbul.
He continued: “We are restructuring the presidential system in line with changing needs in a way that is more conducive to achieving Turkey’s century goals.”
