Brazilian Vinicius Junior appeared to be touched and saddened by Real Madrid’s announcement of the departure of French striker Karim Benzema.

Benzema put white hearts on Real Madrid’s announcement of his departure on Instagram, to which Vinicius replied with a “smiley” (symbol) of a sad face, expressing deep sadness over the departure of the French star.

Real Madrid midfielder Frenchman Aurélien Chouamini also commented on Benzema’s departure by posting symbols expressing his sadness over the departure of his compatriot.

Real Madrid announced on Sunday that captain and top scorer Benzema will leave the club at the end of the current season after 14 seasons in the ranks.

Real Madrid and its captain Karim Benzema have agreed to end a wonderful and unforgettable period as a player of our club,” Real Madrid said in a statement released hours before the last league match against Athletic Bilbao.

Benzema, 35, who joined Real Madrid in 2009 from French side Lyon, will leave an indelible mark on the Royal Club, where he has won 25 titles, including five in the Champions League.
