Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has said he does not yet know if striker Marcus Rashford will play in the League Cup final against Newcastle on Sunday.

The 25-year-old represents an outstanding season and contributed to the Red Devils’ qualification at the expense of Barcelona Spain in the price of the Europa League final yesterday Thursday after they won 2-1 at Old Trafford after they drew 2-2 at the Camp Nou last week.

Rashford, who has scored 24 goals in all competitions this season, retired in the 88th minute and appeared to have hinted via his Instagram account that he was injured after posting a photo to Stories while leaving for dressing room tunnel attached to a bandaged person (sick or injured) emoji.

Asked during a press conference on Friday if Rashford would be ready, Ten Hag said: “I don’t know. Players come here (to the training center in Carrington). We need to get check-ups and medical check-ups.”

He continued: “We did it yesterday, but right after the match you can’t tell, we have to wait for 100 percent verification.”

Ten Hag also confirmed that French striker Anthony Martial, who has not played since the start of the month, will be unavailable.

Manchester United are looking forward to the end of a six-year drought, winning the 2017 League Cup and the Europa League among others, while Newcastle are looking for their first domestic title since 1955.
