A group of researchers at the US Mount Sinai Medical Center found that skipping breakfast causes a reaction in the brain that leads to a decrease in immune system function.

The study was published in the journal Immunity, in which scientists conducted an experiment on two groups of mice, one group had breakfast and the other group did not eat.

The researchers collected blood samples from both groups at four hours and at eight hours.

After the experiment, the researchers noticed a clear difference in the samples taken, in particular the difference in the number of monocytes, confirming that after four hours their number had decreased by 90 percent in the blood of mice that did not eat breakfast.

These immune cells are a type of white blood cell that is produced in the bone marrow and play many important roles in the body, from fighting infections to heart disease and cancer.

The scientists found that fasting mice had reduced production of new cells in the bone marrow, while monocytes suddenly began to age, although they lived longer, these altered monocytes caused inflammation, which made the body less resistant to infections. .

Scientists have identified specific areas of the brain that control the response of monocytes during fasting, so in recent years, many studies have shown the benefits of fasting for weight loss, diabetes control and other diseases.
