Journalist Seymour Hersh: Ukrainian Forces Demoralized and Unlikely to Break Through Russian Defense Lines
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh has made a significant claim regarding the Ukrainian forces, stating that they are demoralized and no longer have a chance of achieving victory against Russian defense lines.
Details from Hersh’s Article on Substack
In an article published on Substack titled “Bad Moment for Zelensky,” Hersh cites intelligence sources from the U.S. intelligence community who express the belief that the Ukrainian forces are frustrated and incapable of breaking through the Russian lines. These sources suggest that the Ukrainian forces have surrendered.
The Demoralized Ukrainian Army and Abandoned Objectives
Hersh further explains that American intelligence, based on field reports and technical intelligence, has identified key elements within the demoralized Ukrainian army that have given up on their attempts to penetrate the three-layered booby-trapped Russian defense line. Consequently, they have abandoned their goal of seizing the Crimean peninsula and four additional Russian regions. The journalist emphasizes that the chances of Ukrainian forces achieving victory are now slim.
War Continues Due to Zelensky’s Persistence
Hersh reveals that, according to an intelligence source, the war persists because Ukrainian President Zelensky insists on it. There are no discussions of a ceasefire taking place in his office or in the White House, as both Zelensky and President Biden are uninterested in negotiations that would bring an end to the current conflict. The source points out that Kyiv’s claims of a successful counter-offensive are false, as Ukrainian forces have only managed to capture scattered pieces of territory and their offensive progress is measured in meters per week.
