Canada’s Forests Devoured by Fires Spanning 8.4 Million Hectares

Canadian authorities said the wildfires have destroyed 8.4 million hectares of forest, and the number of fires has reached 590 active foci.

The Canadian Wildfire Center indicated that out of 590 fires, 289 could not be controlled, and at the end of June the number of fires in the country was more than 420.

The largest number of fires recorded in the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Quebec and Ontario.

Earlier, the media reported that at least 1.8 thousand foreign firefighters from 10 countries, including firefighters from Australia, Spain, Mexico, the United States, France and other countries, are participating in extinguishing forest fires in Canada.

Members of the Canadian Forces also take part in extinguishing the incendiary. The total number of participants in extinguishing the fire is about 5 thousand people.
