Tashkent, April 25 – The company’s president, Maxim Sokolov, told reporters that the new family of Lada cars, which will begin to be assembled at the AvtoVAZ plant in St. Petersburg, will be called X-Cross.
Sokolov also noted that AvtoVAZ is negotiating with the three largest Chinese automakers to assemble cars under the Lada brand at their three plants. Thus, AvtoVAZ may have two new families in addition to the X-Cross.
“These will be families not only in the traditional B or B plus class, in which we work, and in which our new products will soon appear. We are taking a revolutionary step in the Lada line into new classes: C – crossovers will be produced there and D, in which we will produce both Crossovers and sedans.
As noted at AvtoVAZ at the end of March, the start of production at the plant in St. Petersburg is scheduled for May-June.
