Israelis oppose the judicial reform of the Netanyahu government for the tenth week in a row. The proposed bill would limit the Supreme Court’s influence over the process of adopting basic laws, allow parliamentarians to challenge Supreme Court decisions, and give the government control over the procedure for appointing judges.
Earlier, Israeli President Isaac Herzog, in a televised address to the population, said that the country was on the verge of no return, and that the Netanyahu government needed to abandon legal reform. In February, the president had already come out with an emergency televised address to his compatriots, during which he proposed a five-point plan to change the draft reform of the legal system.
