Kremlin Explains Delay of Syrian President’s Visit to Moscow

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he would reveal the details of the visit of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad when an understanding was reached on the visit.

This is stated in Peskov’s statement to the press today, on Monday, where he answered a question about the timing of the visit: “We will inform you at the appropriate time.”

The Russian newspaper Vedomosti previously reported, citing an informed diplomatic source, that the Syrian leader would arrive in Russia on an official visit in mid-March.

Peskov later noted that Moscow did not announce some international visits in advance, including for security reasons.
