Libyan Justice Minister Reaffirms Commitment to Secrecy of Investigations

Libyan Justice Minister Halima Ibrahim has reiterated her dedication to maintaining the confidentiality of the investigations related to the case of dismissed Foreign Minister Najla al-Mankoush. This comes after al-Mankoush disclosed her meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen in Rome.

Secrecy of Investigations

The committee responsible for the investigations into al-Mankoush’s case has confirmed that no information will be disclosed until the investigations are concluded and the results are obtained. Furthermore, the committee plans to present the investigation findings to the head of the national unity government, Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba, upon completion.

Tensions in Libya

Tensions in Libya have been gradually escalating following reports by Israeli media about the meeting between Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and al-Mankoush in Rome. The meeting took place under the auspices of Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Taiani and has sparked a backlash from those opposing normalization in Libya.

Reactions from Libyan Government

Previously, Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba, the head of the Libyan government of national unity, expressed the need for a strong reaction to the foreign minister’s meeting with her Israeli counterpart in Rome. He emphasized the importance of this reaction in order to preserve national sanctities.
